Siraj-ud-Daulah Government Degree College (Morning), FC Area, Karachi The building where the college currently operates was originally constructed for a different college. Yes, in 1970, this building was built for the establishment of Bangla College, as before 1970, a significant Bengali community resided in Moosa Colony. Siraj-ud-Daulah College was initially a private institution established in 1964 by Muhammad Amir Ahmed Khan, Raja of Mahmudabad, a leader of the Pakistan Movement and a close associate of Quaid-e-Azam. The college was set up in a bungalow located in Federal B Area Block 5. It operated in two shifts: science classes were held in the morning, while commerce and arts classes were conducted in the evening. On September 1, 1972, under the nationalization policy announced by the then Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, all private institutions were brought under government ownership. Consequently, Siraj-ud-Daulah College was also made a government college and relocated to this building, which had been constructed for Bengalis in 1970 but remained vacant due to the events of theFall of Dhaka. Professor Mujtaba Hussain was appointed as the first principal of the college, while Muhammad Shoaib Farooqi, popularly known as Shabi Farooqi, was designated as the evening in-charge. It is worth noting that during this period, evening colleges operated under the supervision of the morning principal. On August 16, 2000, all evening colleges in Karachi were granted the status of independent colleges.
